  The artist has begun to branch out of what have been so far mainly realistic paintings into more abstract and conceptual art. Despite what its title may suggest, this painting does not fall into the 'Blue Paintings', and was done mainly for the detail of the woman's neck, which appeared so beautiful that the need for a face to define the young woman fell away.
