PAINTINGS - BYO STREET BIN

back painting - Bulawayo, August 2005
Bulawayo, August 2005
oil pastel on laid board
420mm x 594mm

Perhaps the most surreal part of Bulawayo is how empty the streets are due to petrol shortages. The beauty of Zimbabweans however is their ability to go on and their hope, though it sometimes is greatly diminished, that difficulties can be overcome. So though perhaps a sad place to be with continued declines into poverty, it is still a beautiful country and forms the basis of several of the Blue Paintings.
