This painting brings up the debate of what is art and what is not. Two prominent art dealers were critical of this painting and yet were positive about another painting that was not selected for this competition by the judges. The artist makes a mental note to like a painting because she actually likes it, and not because she has been told she should. Art and the viewer share a personal experience and for this reason an artist should never compromise his/her work, someone will like it. Even if that someone is your mother. |
