PAINTINGS - ZEBRAS3

back painting - zebras III
zebras III
oil pastel on laid board
420mm x 594mm

Wildlife paintings were done by the artist over a relatively brief period of time. The zebra was one of the more fascinating subjects given the timeless beauty of the patterned stripes which follow and are distorted by each zebra's shape and muscle formation underneath. The zebra is part of the Equidae Family and is native to central and southern Africa. With each zebra's stripes being unique and with an ancient tribal belief that the zebra represents the yin and yang, good co-existing with evil, black and white to form balance, the Common Zebra is perhaps anything but that.
